About Us
Our Past, Present, and Future!
Valley View Free Will Baptist Church was first organized in October of 1931. The church was first known as Pilgrim Baptist Church, a name suggested by Warren Robinson. J.D. Bright was elected moderator and pastor, while Walter Clemmer was elected Clerk, and Warren Robinson was elected Treasurer. It was agreed to meet in the old dwelling house of Warren Robinson on November 1, 1931. Eighteen people became members.
As the congregation grew, land was donated for a church to be built. This was possible because of volunteer help from the community and materials donated by members and friends.
In October 1932, the church met in sessions for the purpose to unite with the Free Will Baptist denomination. A move was made to be admitted into the Free Will Baptist denomination, and it was voted in.
The church has grown continuously since the beginning. Building projects have ranged from building a parsonage, renovating the parsonage, building then renovating a Fellowship Hall, to renovating the church.
Not only has the building program continued to grow, but the congregation and activities are growing as well. Members of all ages have something to enjoy. For the children, we have Children's Church during Sunday morning service. Sunday School classes are offered for all ages along with Wednesday Bible Study and Prayer Meeting. For those of us who like to eat; we have dinner the first Sunday of the month.
Although times were hard at the beginning, FAITH, LOVE, and PRAYER kept our church together as they continue to do today. Each service has something for everyone.
